The Herreninsel island, also known as Herrenchiemsee, can be reached all year round from Prien and Gstadt ports. In the summer months, the Chiemsee boat trip brings you from Bernau, Chieming, and Seebruck over to the idyllic island. Upon arrival, one of the absolute highlights of the island awaits, namely the magnificent ‘Neues Schloss Herrenchiemsee’. It was built in 1878, based on the famous Palace of Versailles. You can get there by foot or ride in a horse-drawn carriage. The somewhat smaller Fraueninsel island can be reached from the Herreninsel, as well as from the towns of Gstadt and Prien. The Frauenwörth monastery especially characterizes the charm of the Fraueninsel and is a well-known place of pilgrimage. From a culinary perspective, Chiemsee also offers something for every taste.
