Experience Staffelsee
The lake has temperatures between 22 and 26 degrees in the summer. With its boggy and curative excellent quality water, it is ideal as a swimming lake. Its shores belong exclusively to the renowned resort Seehausen am Staffelsee, which welcomes its guests with various home-style inns and old, original farmhouses to linger in.
The camping island of Buchau attracts travellers in search of a unique experience. It’s the second largest of the seven islands in Staffelsee and includes a campground. Since the island is a nature reserve, it’s car-free, which is why only tents may be built on the small island. It can be accessed from mid-April to mid-October by boat from Seehausen. Staffelsee is located in the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills and is framed by several mountain ranges such as the Wetterstein, the Zugspitze, the Ammergau Alps, the Estergebirge, as well as the Kocheler mountains. This is why the region is especially known to nature lovers, who let the dreamlike scenery speak to them - on a hike around the Staffelsee or through the Alpen bog "Murnauer Moos", south of Murnau.
